Who knows where the gods went when the rains fell?
Who said that they have an all seeing eye?
Their scales weighted, unjustly, perhaps.
Rains fell on green lands, rivers run swollen.
Who knows where the gods went when droughts took hold?
Dried river beds, famine; bellies swollen.
Dancing for the rain,
praying for warmth of the sun.
Gods own dilemma?

Gillena's Prompt at Imaginary Gardens
To stretch your imagination; ponder a natural disaster, past or recent, and tell me, what role you think, the gods might be playing, resulting in that particular natural disaster.
Very nicely done Julian. I like the questions..the dilemma..
ReplyDeleteYeah, who knows the ways of gods...
ReplyDeleteThought provoking, Julian. Valid questions but difficult to answer
ReplyDeleteThis lends an agnostic eye to the theme, a curtain behind which the gods do what they will if they will if they exists.
ReplyDeleteI really like your opening line. Really attention-grabbing. Nice hook.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed Julian, quite the quandary we find ourselves in. Thanks for participating
ReplyDeletemuch love...
I wonder if there is anyone there... hard to believe that drought is deserved.
ReplyDeleteThe ever-asked question in times of natural disasters. Well written!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this Julian, Thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for dropping by John, and leaving your comment. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
DeleteI like your take on droughts and this prompts. Weather dishes out what weather will whether we are deserving or not. Weather is just weather and grows and kills us all equally.
ReplyDelete"Their scales weighted, unjustly, perhaps" Indeed. Or are they simply blind? Love is supposed to be ... blind. Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteWho knows if there's a god period? If there is, most of the time when needed he is not there. The age-old dilemma!
ReplyDeleteI suspect the gods are leaving it up to us to deal with the mess we've made. Always nice to read you, Julian.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sherry.
DeleteA well presented question? I'm still pondering the "Flood and the Ark"...
ReplyDeleteA question in many minds. Well stated, Julian.
ReplyDeleteA thoughtful - and thought provoking - piece, well rendered.
ReplyDeleteHaunting!
