The breath of your soul sweeps through to my heart
As winter leaves danced and scattered, then settled,
Lay frozen, crystallised in pure white snow.
Your life had reasons laid out in a line
Many of them good ones bearing no lies.
Spring exudes beauty, only you compare
Like nature nurtures new life to the world,
And smiles, with sun flowers of summer;
Gone, gone: on the west wind I hear your song.
Notes:
How ever you decide to interpret my poem, it is not one of sadness, but full of wonderful memories of an exceptional person.

You are right there is no ire in this. Sometimes we must just have that urge to write of our love in this other ways.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful lyrical piece
ReplyDeleteI like the way your poem turns full circle with the repetition of 'Gone, gone: on the west wind I hear your song' at the end of the poem, and love the movement in the lines:
ReplyDelete'The breath of your soul sweeps through to my heart
As winter leaves danced and scattered, then settled'.
Julian this is beautiful....I love the last stanza as it sings of life and love.
ReplyDeleteYes, I feel the appreciation /reflection of this person within your poem. It is good that the voice can always be heard in the wind, and one can remember with fondness the life that was.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of a quote I read once. Don't be sad because its over; be happy because it happened. It's a wonderful thing to have someone so special come into our lives.
ReplyDeleteFor me, plenty of joy here in valuing the loss Julian. I enjoyed this tender write very much...
ReplyDelete"Spring exudes beauty, only you compare like nature nurtures new life to the world".. such beauty in these lines 💖💖
ReplyDeleteI could feel the love in this poem. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Julian. Memories freezing forever in snow crystals.
ReplyDeleteYour words sing of wonderful memories Julian.
ReplyDeleteI think celebrations of a life well lived, of someone well loved, are wonderful too.

I LOVE "on the west wind I hear your song." I have had frinds who have gone on about whom I feel this way - still present in spirit, they shine so brightly in memory. This is a truly beautiful poem! Loved it.
ReplyDeleteI can feel the emotions and the memories are fond, the song is still there lingering when the wind blows.
ReplyDeleteGone, gone: on the west wind I hear your song.
A beautiful poem. I particularly love the "west wind" line bracketing it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely way to celebrate what someone has meant to you. Their spirit remains while their body had to leave.
ReplyDeleteLoved this wonderfully constructed, beautifully rendered piece.
ReplyDeleteThat opening line is so beautiful...
ReplyDeleteBack for another read as this is just so lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh thanks Sherry, that's quite a complement.
